Every unforgettable proposal begins with a conversation.
When Kushaal first contacted us, he already knew one thing with certainty: he wanted the proposal to be a complete surprise. What he was still searching for was the right place and the right atmosphere to make that moment feel natural, intimate and true to their relationship.
As we explored different ideas together, it quickly became clear that he wasn’t looking for an elaborate production. Instead, he was drawn to a simpler vision. A peaceful beach, a beautiful sunset and a setting where nothing would distract from the moment itself.
That shared philosophy shaped every decision that followed. Rather than asking what more could be added, we focused on what could be removed. Simplicity became the guiding principle from the very beginning, creating an experience that felt elegant without ever feeling staged.
Choosing Petres Beach
Finding the right location is often the most important decision when planning a surprise proposal.
For this experience, Petres Beach, just west of Rethymno, offered exactly what we were looking for. Its long sandy shoreline, peaceful atmosphere and uninterrupted sea views created the perfect balance between privacy and accessibility. Unlike many popular beaches in Crete during summer, Petres still offers enough space for couples to enjoy an intimate moment without feeling surrounded by crowds.
Another advantage was the natural scenery. Instead of relying on dramatic cliffs or elaborate decorations, the open horizon and the evening light became part of the proposal itself. The sea wasn’t simply the background—it became one of the defining elements of the experience.
Designing a Minimalist Proposal
Every couple imagines their proposal differently.
Some dream of luxury styling with arches and abundant flowers, while others prefer something quieter and more personal. Kushaal belonged to the second group.
Together we designed one of the most minimalist proposal setups we’ve ever created: a simple white blanket, two bouquets of fresh white roses and soft LED candles placed close to the shoreline. Every element had a purpose, and nothing felt unnecessary.
Rather than filling the space with decorations, we allowed the surrounding landscape to become part of the design. The clean white styling blended beautifully with the warm colours of the sunset and the deep blue of the sea, creating an elegant setting that reflected the couple’s understated personalities.
